Denai Ultra Sungkai 2018

Denai Ultra Sungkai (DUS) is an event organized by Denai Ultra and will be held on 13th October 2018 at Felda Residence Hot Springs, Sungai Klah, Perak, Malaysia. It will be the first time ever a trail running event been held in this area. With a few attractive destinations such as hot springs and nearby pristine river, the route will also traverse through Felda settlement. The start and finish venue will be at the Felda Residence Hot Springs Sg Klah. This can be a suitable run-cation activity.

DUS is separated into three distance categories, 50km, 25km and 10km. This event will consist of Felda's own palm oil open wide trail at Sungai Klah and Trolak and tarmac road along the Felda settlements with elevation gain of 960m, 360m and 150m (+-) respectively. Surely this will be a fast trail race that will get your heart pumping.

The 10km category is catered for newbie to beginners who just started trail running or who just want to add some spice in their weekend activity. 10km runners will run through Felda Sungai Klah palm oil trail with a river crossing to add some fun and end with tarmac road passing through kampong area.

The 25km category catered for beginners to season runners who want to go the distance but not ready for ultra-distance. The 25km is with extended route until Felda Trolak settlement with another river crossing and to return with different route back to Felda Sungai Klah trail/tarmac.

The 50km category is the main category for season runner who want an adventure. Very suitable for first time ultra-runner (with proper training). 50km runners will experience two different trail/road at Felda Sungai Klah and Trolak. From another Felda Residence to another Felda Residence. A few river crossing, a railway crossing and a nice view especially at Felda Trolak trail surely will add to the memories.









  1. Mandatory gear check will be conducted randomly during the race and after crossing finishing line for the potential podium winner.
  2. Any runners who fail to adhere to the list below will incur penalty, where time will be added to their finishing time based on the severity of the omission, and in some cases will give the organizer the right to penalize or disqualify the said runner. Any decision made is at the organiser’s discretion and it will be final.

ELIGIBILITY
  1. This race is open to male or female of Malaysians/international runner age 18 years old or older, as of race day.
  2. Participants must complete the race on foot under their own strength.
  3. Participants are required to be semi self-sufficient. You must have your mandatory items with you at all times during the race.
  4. The Organiser reserves the right to deny entry to any participants.
PACER / EXTERNAL SUPPORT
  1. Pacers and support crew are strictly prohibited.
  2. No external support by friends or family is allowed beyond the limits of the official checkpoints.
F&B
  1. Refreshments (drinks and food) will be served at the official checkpoints.
  2. The refreshments are strictly reserved for participants only.
  3. To avoid littering to the trail, we will not provide any paper cups at each checkpoints. You are required to bring your own bottles or bladders or personal cup.
SAFETY
  1. Race bib must be worn & visible at all times (on the front) throughout the event.
  2. Participants must stay on the marked course at all times. Short cuts/running off the trails are strictly prohibited.
  3. Participants must carry all the mandatory items at all times during the event.
  4. If should you have noticed marshal vehicles (bicycle/motorbike/truck) approaching during the race, please slow down and give way.
  5. Please be cautious as some parts of trail route might be muddy and slippery in condition.
  6. There will be a few river crossings, so it is advised to always stay alert on the official race marker. There will be race marshals at major river crossings.
  7. Ensure your own safety and that of others. Be considerate of other trail and road users at all times. Take great care when crossing or running on roads. If another runner is injured or in distress, please assist and contact race official/marshal/volunteer or event emergency number.
RACE COURSE
  1. The route will be marked with ribbons and arrows at intersections. It is imperative that you follow the paths with the markers without taking any short cuts.
  2. Any runner seen taking a short cut along the route will be penalized/disqualified.
DROPPING OUT FROM THE RACE
  1. If you decide to withdraw from the event, you must inform the event officials immediately and remove your race bib.
  2. Once you have dropped out of the race, you are not allowed to re-start.
  3. Dropping out at check point
    1. Tell the checkpoint marshals that you've decided to drop out from the race.
    2. The checkpoint marshals will be able to further guide you on returning to the finishing point or with the race shuttle.
    3. Do note that not all checkpoints are accessible with race shuttle and even so with a limited time frame.
  4. Dropping out along the race course
    1. Please proceed to your nearest checkpoint and inform the marshals that you've decided to drop out from the race.
    2. The checkpoint marshals will be able to further guide you on returning to the finishing point or with the race shuttle.
    3. Do note that not all checkpoints are accessible with race shuttle and even so with a limited time frame.
    4. If you're severely unable to move yourself to the nearest checkpoint, please contact the event emergency number on your race bib.
MEDICAL
  1. Medical services of medical personnel with ambulance will be available at the race site, if required for emergency cases.
  2. It is the responsibility of all the participants to ensure that they are medically fit & healthy to participate the race.
  3. Please consult your doctor if there is any prior doubt on your health.
INSURANCE
  1. All participants are to accept the risk associated with this event as per indemnity clause stated in registration form.
  2. The Organiser will not be responsible for any medical/insurance claims resulted from this event.
  3. It is recommended that all participants have personal accident insurance or health insurance.
GENERAL
  1. You must obey the instructions of the event marshals at all times.
  2. If you miss the cut-off time for your category, you must withdraw from the race as instructed.
  3. Littering is strictly prohibited. Any runner seen littering along the route will be penalized.
  4. Damaging or disturbing any flora or fauna or building/structure is strictly prohibited.
  5. Doping or use of drugs is strictly prohibited.
  6. Breaking any of the rules mentioned may incur a time penalty or disqualification. Any such penalties are at the race organisers discretion and are final.
  7. The organisers reserve the right to make changes to the event rules and requirements, route or other arrangements as they deem appropriate.
  8. Participants must provide true and accurate information to the organisers. Any willful dishonesty may render a participant's entry invalid and the organisers reserve the right to amend or cancel such participant's entry without compensation.
EVENT CANCELLATION
  1. The organisers shall reserve the right to cancel or cut short the event for the following reasons: (but not limited to)
  2. Adverse weather conditions (haze, thunderstorm etc.)
  3. Dangerous trail conditions (Landslides, flood, tree fallen/fires blockage along the course etc.)
** In such event no refund of the registration fee.
